The population of Japanese Canadian individuals in Toronto increased to 5,000 by 1947.〔 In the 1950s and 1970s Etobicoke, Scarborough, and other suburban areas in Greater Toronto received ethnic Japanese coming from western Canada.〔Ruprecht, Tony.
